Claremont Invitational Event - May 2010

On Tuesday 18th May, the athletics team took part in the Claremont  Invitational Athletics meeting where we competed against Ashley Primary, Greenfield School Woking and the host school Claremont Fan Court.
In beautiful sunny conditions and a stunning setting, excitement and anticipation were high amongst the team as we prepared to defend the titles we won in 2009.  Could the team repeat the phenomenal performances of the previous two years?  The challenge was set by the determined and talented runners from the other schools and there were some fantastic races on the track.  Over in the sand, the long jump competition was intense whilst the throwers battled it out for distance as cricket and rounders balls were hurled into orbit!
Our team performed superbly and the ultimate success achieved should not be underestimated – this was a tough competition and I was extremely proud of everyone.
Once again we were backed by a hugely supportive group of parents who clapped and cheered the runners home – a huge thank you again parents!
A clean sweep of victories in all age groups was the reward for a determined, focussed team effort (see results below). And the price of success? Well, I’m off to take out a bank loan to fund the latest supply of victors’ ice lollies!
